If you noticed it briefly, Bulletstorm might be just like any other FPS titles but thanks to its unique ‘kill with skill’ gameplay, this game might be completely different from any other FPS titles that you have played so far.
Payback!
Bulletstorm tells about two elite mercenaries, Grayson Hunt and Ishi Sato, who have been betrayed by their own commander, and exiled to a distant planet filled with monsters and hordes of flesh-eating mutants. They finally have two objectives: to get out of that planet alive and...get some revenge!
Unique Gameplay, Unique Weapons
What makes Bulletstorm different to other FPS titles is the skill shot system. With this system, some ‘creativity’ is required while killing enemies, as more ‘creative’ and brutal the kill is, larger the points you’ll get. Those points are used to upgrade player’s skills and weapons, and buying ammunitions. And in this game, there are about 100 distinct skill shots, each with unique names.
Including some attack combinations, like energy leash (a sort of Star Wars’ Force Grip) that can be combined with headshot, a hard kick to the head, or throw the enemies into the environment and watch their brutal death. However, to encourage players not to use the same skill shots all the time, the second time a player pull the same skill shot will reward even lesser points. To make this game more ‘glorious’, the developers don’t forget to include various unique big guns that you can use along the gameplay. Ranging from the standard PMC rifle, flail gun, electrical grappling hook, bouncer (big gun that fires bouncing shells), and more!

About the multiplayer modes, there are two modes so far: Anarchy, which is a typical Horde-mode like in Gears of War series, and Echo. Mode Echo is more or less the singleplayer mode with its own online leaderboards and minus the dialogs as well as cutscenes. Player need to get highest score possible to reach the top of leaderboards, and player can see the other players’ score there as well.
Bulletstorm will be released for PS3, Xbox360, and PC on February 22, 2011. Just a reminder, this game is filled with brutality and gore, and maybe it’s even more brutal than Gears of War or the Unreal series. So we don’t really recommend this game for our younger players but if you are mature enough and FPS is your cup of tea then you should look forward for this game when it’s out in February next year.
