HAWX 2

Although not as successful as Ace Combat series and known for getting so many critics from the fans of flight action games, Tom Clancy’s HAWX still has something that can hook its fans; fast-paced dogfights, which can be more intense than Ace Combat series’ did.  This time, Ubisoft will once again trying to make the HAWX series better than the Ace Combat series and other flight sims games.

At Last, Take-off and Landing!

The good news is there are some events where you must take-off from the runway or aircraft carrier, as well as bring your plane back home…in the middle of the enemy’s gunfire. Also, it seems that HAWX 2 will have more varied missions, including espionage mission using an unmanned aircraft (UAV), night attack mission, and air support mission using a gunship (as seen in CoD: Modern Warfare’s Death from Above mission).

HAWX 2 story doesn’t have any connections with the game’s original story although it seems that it will still ties in with other Tom Clancy’s game titles (Future Soldier?). Overall, you will play with three different factions during the campaign, which are Russian, US and British, with every faction have their own enemies (i.e Russians against the Separatists). Nevertheless, it seems you still able to choose your own plane except in certain mission.

The ERS from the original has been removed, but you still have to ‘fly through series of rings’ for landing and mid-air refueling. Plus, you can’t issue orders to wingmen anymore, although the campaign still supports up to four player coop.

Some Present Issues…

The controls in HAWX 2 are still pretty much the same as the previous HAWX. The “Assistance-off” feature from the original game still exist and this feature has invite critic from the player because of it’s annoying camera viewpoint, plus the flight physics is just too simple and bland. There are still no exact information regarding the number of playable jets, although it seems there will be no more additional planes, aside of the unmanned plane (UAV) and AC-130 Gunship.

Will HAWX 2 be able to fix all the mistakes that its predecessor did, or will it repeats their old mistake. One thing for sure, let’s just hope that HAWX2 will be able to deliver more intense dog-fight actions than any other action flight sims series can deliver.
