After several times losing to EA Sports’ FIFA series during the late PS2 era, finally Konami brings Winning Eleven or Pro Evolution Soccer to the new dimension; of course with using every potentials that the next-gen consoles have.
Completely New Gameplay
Almost everything in the game are completely new, the gameplay, totally revamped graphics, and even a new user friendly menus. Overall, PES 2011 has a slower-paced gameplay compared to its predecessors, although player can adjust the game speed on the fly. Now, for the passing, you must adjust its direction and power manually for an accurate passing.
Now the players will have much more freedom in movements and they are able to run in any direction they want. Teamwork and strategy are definitely a necessary to wind the game which also means that you can’t use the same trick you usually perform in previous version of PES to win. For the team rosters, we hope it will be as complete (or hopefully more than) as usual. As for the Master League mode, it is reported that the mode can be played online.
Radical Changes in Looks
Thanks to the next-gen consoles’ capabilities, PES 2011 has much better graphics compared to PES 2010. As usual, player likenesses are as real as ever, with very sharp textures. Konami also have revamped the menus, so that they’re way more simplified and user-friendly, especially in the team editor and formations menu which using the super-simple drag-and-drop system.
With Pro Evolution Soccer 2011, it seems Konami is trying to prove that they can bring back the PES’ glory that EA Sports’ FIFA series has stolen from them, and of course to bring back a new generation of ‘Winning Eleven hype’ to the football video games fans.
