Suikoden Team got Disbanded in order to bring you Frontier Gate.

After Team Silent Hill got disbanded, now it’s Suikoden Team’s turn to get disbanded by Konami. Instead, Konami with Tri-Ace (of StarOceanseries fame) is currently working on a brand new RPG called “Frontier Gate”, which is like a Monster Hunter game but on turn-based gameplay (like the Final Fantasy battle system).

In this game, players will play as a pioneer to explore a new unexplored continent filled with handful types of monster. Also, there are some partners that you can choose for your adventure, and that partner you choose will eventually affect the overall storyline.

However, it doesn’t mean that Suikoden franchise will be gone forever. It’s just that they don’t have the plan to release the new Suikoden series in the near future. However, just like the Silent Hill series though, this might mean that in the future, any other game developers outside Konami might helm the new Suikoden game. In a way, this might be a good thing to give the Suikoden franchise a new different feel and approach.

Some of the previous Suikoden staffs are now involved in the development of Frontier Gate. One of them is Osamu Komuta who used to be the director of Suikoden Tierkreis (NDS), and this time, he’s the director of Frontier Gate.
