When Nintendo 3DS were release back on March, the console is priced with a $250 price tag, however starting August 12 next month, Nintendo 3DS is going to have an $80 Price Cut with the final price of $170. Wow...speaking about desperate measure...
After some lackluster of the 3DS sales along with the limited library of games problems, the numbers of 3DS selling seems to dropped rapidly in the last couple of months. From the looks of it, it seems that this price cut is also the result from Nintendo being miscalculate about PSP Vita price. At first, it was predicted that the 3DS rival, PSP Vita will might cost around $300-350, but instead the Vita will have a final price of $250, the same with the current 3DS's prices. This is why such a price cut move has to be taken by Nintendo in order to give the 3DS, an ability to fight to compete with PSP Vita.
Luckily, for early 3DS adaptor, there are some compensation, in which, for anyone who already bought the 3DS before August 12 will have an opportunity to download 20 free games via 3DS eShop for free. These game titles will include the classic Nintendo Entertainment System titles (such as Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda) along with the Game Boy Advance titles (such as Yoshi's Island and Metroid Fusion).
Well...at least that is a good news for us, the consumer. I've been planning to buy 3DS since its release but I decided to wait and waiting for the first price cut to come first, but never I imagined the price cut will be this early and so drastic as well. ($80 is sure pretty drastic) True to what some people said, Desperate situation takes a desperate measure and it seems that this is what happens in Nintendo 3DS's case.
