Experience Points in Final Fantasy XIV is limited to 8 hours/week?

If typical MMORPGs forces player to play longer hours to get rewards then FF XIV isn’t like that. Final Fantasy XIV has a time limit, where if you play more than eight hours in a week then the the gained EXPs will gradually drop until you don’t get any EXPs at all.

And of course, it sets hardcore MMO gamers on rage. However, the game director Nobuaki Komoto, explains that, this system isn’t related to health-preserving or such other things. "First off, the main concept behind FFXIV is allowing those players with little time on their hands to play effectively, and game balance is based off of that.

Furthermore, it is being designed to not give those with more time on their hands to play an unfair advantage (power leveling). That is why in return the game has a systems called Guardian's Favor (a bonus to Guild levels) to make leveling in the short-term easier than leveling in the long-term," Nobuaki explains.

Also, players are able to change their characters’ job anytime but each job will have its own eight-hour time limit. But, still it is unfair since players still have to pay the monthly fee for playing the game and for them, this system will make the leveling takes a long time. This timer system is currently under test and on the tweak phase, remembering the game itself still in open beta stage.
