Finally, some of the Japanese comic artists begin to criticize about illegal online activity on manga and anime through internet.
Black Lagoon’s Rei Hiroe through his twitter strongly critcized and curse someone who uploaded all his comic files as .zip file on internet. This move soon was followed by other comic artist named Kazuki Kotobuki who hoped the person who illegaly download his manga got struck by thunder, hit by meteor, or other ‘suitable dead ways’. The tweet was also followed and replied by Hellsing’s mangaka, Kouta Hirano that supports his ‘curse’ to the uploader and desired him to suffer from unhealed disease. Both of them were replied by Hiroe-sensei on his own twitter.
Not only that, Kuroshitsuji’s Tana Yoboso was also disappointed with illegal animation videos and comics uploads in internet. She expressed her disappointment on her Sunday blog entry. She felt the dissapointment when she got many email from fans saying that they likes her comic since they can read or watch it on internet (manga scan or online-streaming) illegaly.
This topic should be our concern as manga reader and anime fans. These authors argue that this acts inflict a financial loss to many people, include publisher and themselves as artists. Even so, there are still so many temptation that tempt us to enjoy their works illegaly. All becomes awry. However, we agreed that there is nothing wrong if we pay some amount of money as a show of our appreciation on their works. Don’t you think so, people?
